Our goal at Sip Wine Bar is to create an atmosphere that removes pretension from the wine experience and helps you discover wonderful wines from around the world, at your pace.

We have a wide variety of wines offered by-the-glass, a reliable bottle menu, and an excellent selection of sweet, fortified, and dessert wines for you to enjoy. Cheese, charcuterie, and desserts for the best of local businesses in Old Saybrook.

Meet the Somm

Derrik

Leading our team is part-owner, Derrik, who has dedicated himself to learning and tasting all styles and types of wine so that all guests have a resource to ask questions about and receive help discovering wines. Derrik leads all classes and tastings at Sip, hand-selects the wines for each monthly Wine Club subscription, tastes and selects wines for the by-the-glass and reserve tasting menu, and leads private event tastings at Sip.

Derrik is a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, obtained the WSET Diploma, an Italian Wine Scholar through the Wine Scholars Guild, Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Sherry Wine Specialist. His passions include fortified and Tuscan wines.
